Recently I had an Invitational Studio Open House. It was my way of saying “thank you” to supporters over the years. We had a beautiful summerlike September evening and it was a perfect afternoon to showcase the studio. Current work was also exhibited in my home. It gave the guests an opportunity to see original art in a home setting.
The “Art Garage” as my studio is known is in a detached garage. Five years ago, my husband, David & I had our two car garage transformed into one. Since then, the studio has been a great space for me. It is equipped with air conditioning and heat which enables me to work year round. Having a studio in my own ‘backyard’ has allowed me to paint with no excuses. It takes a little discipline and any chunk of time can be productive. Ninety minutes is enough time to get a lot accomplished.
Special thanks to Brenda Moody for creating some nice platters of food for the occasion. Setting up drink and eats on the deck was a nice segues between the house & studio. Everyone also got to enjoy the gardens which are in a full September bloom of zinnias and dahlias.
David’s pottery was also displayed and impressed many who attended. He has been a member of Clayworks Studio at Roberson for 8 years. The potter’s wheel is what he specializes in. There was a nice variety of bowls and pots with lovely glazes.
